About the company and the mission

Gekås is one of Sweden’s most well-known destinations — attracting millions of visitors each year for shopping, dining, activities, and accommodation. The website plays a central role in inspiring guests, sharing updates, and driving bookings. Over the past few years, it has become increasingly important, and Gekås turned to us to help modernize the platform, make it more user-friendly, and easier to manage internally.

The challenge

Gekås already had a content-rich website — but also a major opportunity: to showcase everything in a more engaging and intuitive way. There was room to improve navigation, unify the visitor experience, and make it easier to plan a visit, book accommodation, or simply explore all that Gekås has to offer.

At the same time, there was clear potential to streamline internal workflows. With a more modern and flexible platform, the team at Gekås could work faster, manage content with ease, and respond to new needs more efficiently.

The goal

To create a modern, inspiring, and easy-to-navigate website that guides visitors all the way — from initial inspiration to confirmed booking. Just as importantly, the solution needed to be easy to manage internally and built for future scalability and digital growth.

To meet Gekås’ high expectations for their digital presence, we took a holistic approach — covering strategy, structure, design, and development. Thanks to a close collaboration, we were able to define a clear roadmap and deliver a platform that performs just as well behind the scenes as it does for end users.

A better user experience

We built a brand-new site structure with a clear, well-organized sitemap that makes it easier for users to find what they’re looking for. Booking flows were simplified, and the content was reorganized to feel more inspiring and accessible. The design also got a major upgrade — better reflecting Gekås as a full-scale experience destination.

SEO

We carried out foundational SEO optimization to ensure strong visibility in search engines and create a solid base for future digital growth.

Accessibility

The entire website was adapted to meet current WCAG accessibility guidelines, making sure all visitors — regardless of ability — can access content and enjoy the same great experience.

Integrations

To ensure a seamless journey, we implemented integrations with the booking system and payment providers Swish and Nets. We also connected the Gekås loyalty card, so users can log in and check their balance directly on the website.

Easier content management

We built a brand-new admin interface using Gutenberg, giving the Gekås team a far more intuitive way to update and manage content. This reduces internal workload and increases agility.

Full service and ongoing support

For Gekås, the website is a living channel. Our partnership continues, with Mild serving as a digital sounding board and handling everything from technical maintenance to content updates and ideas for new digital initiatives.

The result

Today, Gekås has a modern, inspiring website that’s easier for visitors to navigate — and much simpler for the internal team to manage. The new booking flow is clearer and smoother, which has already led to more completed bookings per day. The site is now ready to scale with the business and support future growth initiatives.
